The Viking tunic was a staple in Norse society, valued for its practicality and durability in the harsh Scandinavian climate. Traditionally made from wool or linen, these tunics offered warmth and resilience, essential for daily life and travel. Worn by both men and women, the tunic’s straightforward design made it adaptable to various roles and environments, from battlefields to village life.
Our design captures these timeless qualities with a modern twist. Crafted from 100% cotton at 200 GSM (grams per square meter, indicating fabric weight), this tunic is breathable and comfortable, making it ideal for today’s LARP, SCA, and reenactment events. The long cut and short sleeves provide freedom of movement, while the relaxed fit allows for agility—just as it would have for the Vikings.
A practical riding slit allows ease of movement on horseback or over rough terrain, reflecting a feature that would have been invaluable to Viking warriors and travelers alike. Adding a touch of authenticity, the diamond twill borders are crafted from a 320 GSM wool blend (80% wool and 20% nylon), emulating the decorative artistry that signified social status and clan identity in Norse clothing.
Versatile in its design, this tunic can be worn on its own in warmer weather or layered with cloaks, armor, or other outerwear for added warmth. Its adaptability makes it suitable for a variety of characters, from Viking and Norse warriors to Anglo-Saxon and early medieval personas.
Available in nine sizes, from Small to 6XL, this historically inspired piece offers a comfortable fit for a wide range of body types. It’s an essential garment for anyone looking to embody the strength and resilience of Viking heritage, blending historical accuracy with the comfort and durability needed for modern reenactments.
Care Instructions:
The Harald Ironfist tunic is easy to care for, but following these guidelines will help preserve its quality and unique decorative lace:
To keep it looking its best:
Washing: Hand wash in cold water or use a delicate cycle. Turn inside out and wash separately or with similar colours.
Drying: Hang or lay flat to air dry in the shade, avoiding direct sunlight to preserve the colour and wool borders.
Ironing: If needed, iron on a low heat setting, taking care around the wool borders to prevent damage. A steamer can be used to release wrinkles without direct heat.
Spot Cleaning: For small stains, dab gently with a damp cloth and mild detergent, avoiding scrubbing to protect the fabric and decorative details.
