Material: 100% Baltic Linen 150 GSM
The "St. Birgita's Cap" is inspired by the traditional head coverings depicted in the Maciejowski Bible (also known as the Morgan Bible or Crusader Bible), a richly illustrated 13th-century manuscript commissioned by King Louis IX of France. This famous manuscript provides a window into medieval life and fashion, showcasing the modest, functional headwear commonly worn by women in medieval Europe.
Crafted from 100% Baltic linen at 150 GSM (grams per square meter, indicating fabric weight), this cap offers a lightweight, breathable option ideal for historical reenactments, LARP, SCA, and living history events. Reflecting the style of caps seen in the Maciejowski Bible, this headwear was designed to cover the hair modestly and provide a practical layer beneath additional head coverings, such as veils or hoods.
In medieval society, caps like these were valued for both their simplicity and utility, often worn by women of various social classes. The close-fitting design keeps hair covered during daily activities and work, while the soft linen ensures comfort for long events. Worn on its own or layered under other garments, this cap adds historical authenticity to any medieval or early Renaissance outfit.
With a one-size-fits-most design, St. Birgita's Cap is a versatile piece suited to various characters and roles, whether portraying a medieval peasant, a craftsman’s wife, or a member of a noble household. This cap brings the modest elegance of medieval headwear to life, offering a practical yet historically accurate accessory for any reenactor’s wardrobe.

The "St. Birgita's Cap" is an essential addition to any medieval wardrobe, bringing the charm and practicality of historical dress to your portrayal.
